Launch of the World Food Securıty and Nutrıtıon Report
The launch event of the 2022 Global Food Security and Nutrition Report prepared under the auspices of the FAO took place on October 4th, hosted by Özyeğin University.
The launch event, which saw significant interest from our university students, commenced with opening speeches by Rector Prof. Dr. F. Esra Gençtürk and Viorel Gutu, the FAO Central Asia Subregional Coordinator and Turkey Representative. Following presentations by FAO experts on the report, the event concluded with a panel featuring Associate Prof. Dr. Faik Gür from Özyeğin University and Taylan Kıymaz, the Turkey Program Coordinator for IFAD, moderated by Dr. Ayşegül Selışık, the Deputy Representative of FAO Turkey.
The 2022 Global Food Security and Nutrition Report holds significance in presenting the latest updates on the affordability and cost of healthy nutrition, and in developing policy recommendations regarding the global food security and nutrition situation. Launched in celebration of the 2022 World Food Day, the report aims to contribute to in-depth discussions and raise awareness about the global food and nutrition situation, with participation from representatives of FAO, IFAD, WFP, and Özyeğin University.
