Sustainable Investment Policy

Özyeğin University (ÖzU) continues to take a leading role in sustainability, adopting innovative steps in the construction and operation of its campus. The university has established the Center for Energy, Environment and Economy, a pioneering research center focused on sustainable practices, marking a significant stride towards combating climate change through energy-efficient solutions. This center merges academic and technical expertise to research renewable energy integration, energy efficiency, and sustainable building designs.

During the construction phase of the campus, techniques aimed at maximizing energy efficiency and minimizing environmental impact were implemented based on insights from CEEE's researchers. As a result, the initial buildings within the campus were designed to meet the standards of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). LEED is an international certification system that assesses buildings' environmental impacts, energy and water savings, reduction in CO2 emissions, and improvement in indoor environmental quality.

Following this initial success, ÖzU has continued to uphold LEED standards in constructing new buildings, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability. The university's approach serves as a model for integrating sustainability in educational and research activities and in its physical infrastructure and operational practices. Thus, ÖzU is recognized not only for its academic excellence but also for its leadership in social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
