Collaboration for SDG best practice
Özyeğin University develops and shares international best practices for tackling the SDGs through collaborative research and innovative institutional models. The ATTUNE project exemplifies this approach by bringing together 10 different organizations including universities and NGOs to create a scalable climate action framework that can be implemented at any university globally. This pilot program, successfully tested across five countries, demonstrates leadership in campus-based climate change mitigation and has produced transferable methodologies for engaging academic staff, administrative personnel, and students in collective sustainability action.
The ÖzÜ Sustainability Platform serves as a comprehensive, integrated model that showcases best practices in managing sustainability initiatives through cross-disciplinary and cross-faculty research, extracurricular activities related to SDGs, and sustainable campus operations.
The university's extensive industry partnerships across diverse sectors—including home appliances (Vestel, Arçelik), defense industry (Roketsan, Tusaş Motor Sanayi), technology and telecommunications (Nokia, Huawei), financial services, aviation and tourism, and construction—enable the translation of research into practical applications that contribute significantly to Türkiye's economic and technological advancement. Through these multisectoral collaborations, the university reviews comparative approaches, develops innovative solutions, and disseminates best practices that bridge academic knowledge with real-world implementation, creating a replicable model for other institutions seeking to advance the SDG agenda.
