Elected Representation in University Governance
At Özyeğin University, participatory and transparent governance is a key principle. The university ensures that all internal stakeholders — including faculty, staff, and students — are actively represented in decision-making processes through structured and inclusive mechanisms.
Faculty Representation
Faculty members at Özyeğin University are directly involved in the governance of their respective faculties and schools through elected representation.
According to the university’s Rules and Regulations, the Faculty Board, chaired by the Dean, includes:
- All heads of departments affiliated with the faculty,
- Directors of any institutes or schools within the faculty, and
- Elected academic representatives: three professors, two associate professors, and one member of the doctoral teaching staff, each serving a three-year term.
In addition, the Faculty Executive Board, also chaired by the Dean, includes:
- Three professors,
- Two associate professors, and
- One doctoral teaching staff member,
all elected by the Faculty Council for a three-year term.
These elected bodies ensure that a diverse range of academic perspectives contribute to faculty-level decisions on strategy, education, research, and quality enhancement.
Staff Representation
Administrative and professional staff also play an active role in the governance of Özyeğin University. Staff members are represented through participation in university-wide boards and committees, contributing to areas such as quality assurance, occupational health and safety, sustainability, and campus development.
The inclusion of staff in these committees ensures that decisions are informed by operational expertise and the lived experience of those who support the university’s day-to-day functioning.

Student Representation
Students are central to governance at Özyeğin University and are represented through both formal and consultative mechanisms.
- Department and Faculty Boards: Faculties regularly invite student representatives to attend departmental and faculty board meetings, providing them with opportunities to voice their perspectives on academic and administrative matters.
- University-Wide Committees: Students are members of the Campus Services Advisory Board, Occupational Health and Safety Board, and the Quality Commission, ensuring their input in key institutional decisions that affect student life and learning environments.
- Feedback and Reporting: The Özyeğin University Student Council (ÖzUSC) systematically collects student feedback and communicates it to the university administration through reports, presentations, and regular meetings. The Student Council also provides input to the Quality Commission to contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
