Does gender inequality bother you? Does generating ideas for solutions against inequalities excite you? Do you want to discuss and question these ideas together? And moreover, do you want to contribute to taking concrete steps?
ÖzU Gender Ideathon is back to seek answers to these questions and more!
Organized jointly by OzU Gender Office and Sustainability Platform this year, the Ideathon will take place on March 1-2-3. Join us in the "ÖzU Gender Ideathon", let's be empowered by your experiences and ideas, and produce together.
We are activating our curiosity radars about where, how and under what conditions gender inequalities can emerge. We invite all ÖzU students to the "OzU Gender Ideathon" where we will think, discuss and generate new solutions.

The "ÖzU Gender Ideathon" experience is shaped around two main events.
The first of these is the "Searching for Gender Inequalities in Global Issues" panel on February 21 and the "Searching for Gender Inequalities with Data" panel on February 22. In these panels.
We will come together with experts who have identified problems and proposed solutions in the field of gender. Although it is not mandatory to attend these panels, we think that participating in these panels will help you develop ideas before the Ideathon.
The topics of the hybrid panels are as follows;
"Searching for Gender Inequalities in Global Issues"
"Searching for Gender Inequalities with Data"
The second step is the 44-hour Ideathon! In this competition, we will go one step further than speeches and develop solutions!
Form Your Group, Develop Your Idea, Create Your Project and Get Your Prize!
Do you want to go a little beyond the speeches, identify problems in the field of gender inequality and develop solutions? Then create your own group for Ideathon and join the competition. You can win an award after your presentation to the expert jury.
Details below:
You don't need to have a specific idea to participate in the competition, the most important prerequisite is your curiosity and motivation to develop a solution. We believe that your curiosity combined with the mentorship support you will receive during the competition will lead to unlimited project proposals.
During the Ideathon, identify a problem in the intersection of the fifth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), Gender Equality, and any other SDG, and develop solution of your project proposal.
Before the idea marathon stage, which will be held for 44 hours on March 1-2-3, we will hold feedback meetings on February 27 and 29 with the groups who are eligible to participate. In this way, we will support you in the process of generating ideas.

On February 23rd between 12.30-13.30, you can participate in the "Get Acquainted Day" event we will organize. You can find a team for yourself or come together to form a team.
Having friends from different departments in your group will make the competition exciting, you need to make sure that at least one person is from a different department.
We already believe that you will observe gender balance :)
If you participate in the Ideathon, you and your friends will receive a certificate of participation.
There is a cash prize for the first 3 teams: 15.000 TL for the 1st team - 8.000 TL for the 2nd team - 4.000 TL for the 3rd team.
A special ATTUNE prize of 4,000 TL will be awarded to a project that intersects one of the subject of waste, water, energy, food management, transportation with gender equality.

What is an Ideathon?
Ideathons are competition format events where innovative project ideas are created in a short time by coming together in teams.
I have not been able to form/complete the group of 3 or 4 people required for participation, how should I proceed?
Don't worry, we have various alternative ways to form a team. You can follow one of the ways below to form your team of 3 or 4 people:

Do we have to be in the same section with our teammates?
No, there is no such obligation. On the contrary, teaming up with people from different departments is important for diversity of ideas. We encourage you to convince your friends from different departments.
Can students from graduate programs participate?
Yes, all OzU students can participate in Ideathon.
Can everyone participate in the panels on February 21-22?
Yes, all OzU members and even non- OzU members are welcome to attend the panels. You can follow these hybrid events in person at OzU-X, or you can follow them via zoom. We recommend that groups participating in the Ideathon follow these panels.
Can the project idea be related to any topic?
We welcome any idea related to gender inequalities in everyday life!
Where will the Ideathon take place?
The ideathon will take place on March 1-2-3 at the OzU-X building.
You do not need to have a project proposal to participate in the OzU Gender Ideathon. With the mentorship and training support we will provide throughout the process, your projects will be formed on March 1-2-3.
Our event will start on March 1st at 18.00 and end on March 3rd at 13.00. During the event, we will be offering various opportunities for you to develop ideas, have fun, sleep and socialize.
Teams can be 3 or 4 people.
On February 23rd from 12.30-13.30 pm we will organize a introductory event in classroom AB2.G01. If you don't have a team or if your team is missing members, you can attend this event and meet other people. Also, if you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them.

Will all groups that apply be accepted?
Unfortunately, we have a limited number of places for the OzU Gender Ideathon. For this reason, we will be announcing a first and a second list on February 24th according to the order of the applications received and the responses to the application form. Don't forget to check your e-mails on February 24th!
