FAO Partnerships
In line with its role as a national hub for discussions on suggesting solutions to societal problems, Özyeğin University organized several events with the Food and Agriculture Organization of UN(FAO).
On the occasion of World Food Day 2022, FAO-Türkiye launched the 2022 edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World at Özyeğin University. This annual flagship report, jointly prepared by FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP and WHO, contains the most recent and authoritative estimates of the extent of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition around the world. ÖzU students had an opportunity to ask questions of the heads of the respective UN agencies in Türkiye, who will also participate in a panel to examine the facts presented in the 2022 edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World.
As part of World Food Day 2023, FAO has organized the event “Sustainable Water Policies for Sustainable Living” in conjunction with Özyeğin University and the Water Institute of Türkiye. The event discussed the place of water within the 2030 Sustainability Agenda, and featured the participation of public research institutions, universities, private sector and university students.
The Panel “Understanding Global Developments Through Water Footprint” took place under the auspices of Özyeğin University in observance of World Food Day took place at ÖzU on October 16 marking the anniversary of FAO. This year’s World Food Day on October 16 is being celebrated with a series of distinguished events under the theme of ‘Water is Life. Water is Food. Leave No One Behind,’ spanning across the globe, including Türkiye in 2023. The events are designed to foster global awareness and drive change toward the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
