“Nonviolent Masculinity Workshops” Manual Available Online

The dissemination meeting to promote the “Nonviolent Masculinity Workshops” Manual by Özyeğin University and the Initiative for Critical Studies of Masculinities (ICSM) was held online on 30th January 2021.    

The dissemination meeting, held via Zoom and broadcasted live on the YouTube page of the ICSM, reached an audience of over 700 people. The video of the meeting has so far been viewed over 200 times.

Joint Project by Özyeğin University and the Ministry of Industry and Technology: Integration of Rural and Urban Economies

Özyeğin University launched a new project “Integration of Rural and Urban Economies” under the auspices of the General Directorate for Development Agencies at the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The project will be led by the Sustainability Platform at Özyeğin University under the academic coordination of Dr. Faik Gür, an OzU faculty member. The project team will also feature Dr. Candan Türkkan. 

 The Sustainability Platform team will contribute to the project. The project is intended to offer recommendations for the integration of urban and rural economies in order to propel local and rural development in Turkey.  To this end, the project team will develop a comparing and classifying model based on social, economic, cultural and spatial assessments for approximately 150 districts determined by the Ministry.

OzU Gender Equality Unit Has Become The First Turkish Institution To Be A Member Of RINGS

Ozyegin University Gender Equality Unit has become the first institution in Turkey to become a member of The International Research Association of Institutions of Advanced Gender Studies (RINGS). With over 60 members from 32 countries, RINGS was established in 2014 and is located at the Institute of Thematic Gender Studies, a three-university co-operation between Karlstad, Linköping and Orebro universities in Sweden.

With these aims, RINGS members gather in the annual conferences hosted by memberinstitutions. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the only organisation in 2020 will be the online General Assembly and OzU Gender Equality Unit will be a participant of this event as a member.

Local and Rural Development Certificate Programs Completed

24-28 August & 31 August-3 September 2020


Certificate programs aiming to bring a new vision in the fields of local and rural development, agriculture, food and ecology policies, to make functional information accessible and to establish networks have been successfully completed. The first took place between 24-28 August, the second between 31 August and 3 September. 126 participants from the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Development Agencies, Regional Development Administrations, international and national non-governmental organizations and universities participated in the programs. From gender equality in rural areas to youth and employment policies; Programs covering a broad spectrum from ecological sustainability to organizational experiences hosted workshops and panels.

Pandemic and Responsibility: Corporations, Society, State | Sustainability Talks 15 - Webinar

Social Diversity: LGBTIQ+ Awareness Project Completed

4 March -1 May 2020

A social diversity project to increase LGBTIQ+ awareness, prepared by OzU Psychology Department third-year student Uğur Cihat Özküsen, has been carried out under the umbrella of the OzU Sustainability Platform Social Equality Cluster. The project was prepared under the scope of “The Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) Student Leaders" Program, organized by the Meridian International Center in partnership with the U.S. Department of State.

The Government of Turkey presented its 2nd Voluntary National Review (VNR) report on July 15, 2019 at the United Nations High-level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York.

The report provides a review of Turkey’s progress towards Sustainable Development Goals and integration of SDGs into national agenda. The VNRs aim to facilitate the sharing of experiences, including successes, challenges and lessons learned, with a view to accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

The Sectoral Sustainability Research conducted by Özyeğin University- TUSİAD Sustainable Development Forum has been included as one of the best practices contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 9-Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
